Paisley is covered in old graveyards from the two surrounding the abbey to a few on Oakshaw and New Street. This Graveyards of Paisley Heritage Walk will explore some of the graveyards starting at Abbey Close and ending in the graveyard surrounding Oakshaw Trinity (High Kirk). Where we cannot access closed sites we will briefly talk about the history of the site and anyone of importance buried within.
We meet at 1pm at the West Front of Paisley Abbey on Abbey Close, and will finish at Oakshaw Trinity. This walk will be on paved walkways between the graveyards, but we will be walking over grass during visits to the graveyards themselves. If it is wet, please come prepared.
We now have radio receivers for use during the walk to allow distancing, and to allow the guide to be heard. If you wish to make use of the receivers, you are welcome to bring your own headphones, or you can use our own which will be sanitised between uses.
