Kilbarchan, a small village close to Johnstone, has a long heritage. The Village dates back to the 6th Century with the arrival of a wandering monk, Barchan. This heritage walk will take us through the village looking at its early christian links to it’s importance as a weaving village in the 19th Century. We will look at the religious centre that grew up around Church Street followed by the National Trust for Scotland’s Weavers Cottage at the head of the street to other important areas of the the village as it grew.
