Peter Burnet (Barnet) aka Black Peter was Paisley’s first black American weaver, who arrived in the town via Glasgow & Kilmarnock in the late 18th Century. Born in Virginia in around 1769 Peter became a popular adopted ‘Buddie’ and in later life became know around Scotland as he travelled selling his biography. The talk will explore Peters life and journey to Paisley, and will cover some recently discovered records relating to himself and his family.

Event Code: UH-HT24 Date: Tuesday 27th July 2021 Time 7.30pm. This event takes place on Zoom. Bookings will close at midnight the day before the event and zoom invites will be emailed on the morning of the event day.

Cost £7.00 per household. By booking a ticket you accept that the Urban Historian cannot provide refunds if you are unable to attend the event as the circumstances are outwith the Urban Historian’s Control. If the event is cancelled by the Urban Historian a refund or opportunity to attend another event will be provided.
