Heritage Walk Guidlines 15 Spetember 2020

A maximum of 12 will be allowed on each walk. Advice recieved is that multiple groups of 6 from 2 households can attend as long as social distancing of 2m is maintained between each grouping.

Note to book tickets – Use the Buy Now/ Add to Cart Option below each event. When you click ‘Add to Cart’ you now have the option of changing the quantity required, you can then move to the payment page in the usual way


Sat 19 Sept 1 – 3pm    Paisley Now & Then (Causeyside St to Paisley Abbey)

A walk from the junction of Calside/ Neilston Rd to Paisley Abbey exploring the changes that have happened to the streetscape over the last 200 years.

This walk will begin at the old water fountain at the junction of Calside and Neilston Road at 1pm. We will finish at Paisley Abbey. Cost £7

Sat 03 Oct 1 – 3pm      Churches & Graveyards of Paisley

A study of churches within Paisley that have associated graveyards. When were the churches established, what name changes did they undergo, and who is buried within them?

This walk will begin at the West Front of Paisley Abbey and will finish at Oakshaw Trinity on top of Oakshaw. Cost £7

Sat 24 Oct 1 – 3pm      The West End of Paisley

A walk around the West End of Paisley exploring Wellmeadow out to Woodside House and Maxwellton.

This walk will begin at the front entrance of the University of the West of Scotland on the High Street at 1pm. Cost £7

Online Heritage Walk

The Ferguslie Mills of J & P Coats

An Online Heritage Walk

Friday 28th August 7.30pm BST

This Virtual Heritage walk will take you through the growth of the Ferguslie Cotton Thread Mills of J & P Coats. Ferguslie Mills are said to have been the largest thread mill site in the world, while today only a few buildings survive.

Using maps and images we will gain an understanding of the growth of the mills which at one time employed around 5,000 people.

Ticket cost is £6 only one ticket required per household as it is an online event. Zoom link will be emailed the evening before the event.

Paisley Now & Then

An Online Heritage Walk

Friday 24th July at 7.30pm on Zoom.
This will take you from the foot of Calside Road/ Neilston Road, down Causeyside Street, all the way to Paisley Abbey exploring the town as it was in the late 1800’s comapring it today through the use of photographs.

Unlike our Online History Cafe’s there is a fee for this online Zoom event – £6. The bonus is that if you join us for the Online event, you can come on this walk later in the year for free (The date still to be set for the main heritage walk, but it will be a Saturday afternoon.)

The event will be on Zoom, over a 2 hour period to give enough time to explore the area and answer questions etc. Once you are registered, you will be sent the zoom link the day before the event.

All of our Heritage Walks cost £8.00 per person or £6 + booking Fee if you book online through our ticket website. 

Please check the  information for individual walks to ensure you have the correct starting point as they can vary. Our walks are accessible for all abilities, as we stay on public pavements. Please note certain walks marked with an * may not be suitable for wheelchair users as we will be following uneven dirt tracks in parkland.
